Description
This 14th century trapezoidal bag was inspired by artwork from the 14th century showing similar bags.
I made this bag from cotton fabric with a beautiful weave. It is completely lined with natural colored cotton fabric and was carefully embellished by hand with handwoven trim. I made the trim using the old technique of tablet weaving and also made the tassels myself. I used cotton thread for the the trim as well as for the tassels. All seams were reinforced, all used fabrics were pre-washed. The bag is machine washable if needed.
This beautifully simple, functional and timeless design is not only restricted to the 14th century! Similar bags were already depicted in Romanesque artwork from the 11th/12th century! However, some of the best known depictions of trapezoid bags are from the 14th century.
