It took a little to prepare the photos of my most recent 12th century Duchess scroll for Rhiannon of the Isle for my blog. However, all is good now, as I finally fullfilled my promise by preparing and uploading all detail photos of her Duchy scroll. Yes, I admit it. I had to remind myself several times about this photos and was quite concerned that I might forget to post them after all. Unfortunatelly my mind sometimes tends to jump from one project to the next. Often this makes it quite difficult for me to focus on certain projects, especially the ones which I already consider finished. Yes, in cases…

Scriptorium – my secret 12th century scroll project – a Duchess scroll for Rhiannon of the Isle
While I was writing about the beautiful Grant of Arms scroll made by Meuric ap Rhys, which I just recently received, I remembered that I didn’t post about my own most recent and very secret 12th century scroll project yet. 🙂 But now that my most recent and very secret scroll was officially given out during court at coronation, I can tell you more about it. I made a 12th century based and inspired Duchess scroll for Rhiannon, Our beloved (former) Queen of the beautiful Kingdom of Meridies. It is the second 12th century scroll I ever made! And – by the way – this scroll is the very first one…

Scriptorium – my 12th century inspired knighting scroll & vigil book page for my husband :)
And finally – last but not least – the 12th century inspired knighting scroll and vigil book page which I made for my husband’s knighting at Gulf Wars! Well, as you might already know, I consider the 12th century the one “true century”. However, I have to admit that I awfully neglected my beloved century when it comes to calligraphy and scrolls. Therefore I made the creation of his 12th century knighting scroll my very personal mission. And yes, I even learned two new styles for it. 😀

…and the “Rose Tournament” scroll goes to: Louis LeCoffrier! He fought very skillful and chivalrous for Queen Kateryn from the Middle Kingdom in the Rose Tournament at Gulf Wars and won! Hearty congratulation to Queen Kateryn & Louis, her victorious fighter! Louis, thank you very much, it was truly a pleasure to watch you fight! 😀

Scriptorium – working on the scroll for the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars .1
…and finally, after finishing the two scrolls which were on my to-do list, as well as the artwork for the vigil book for my husbands knighting, I am able to catch some breath again. And it’s definitely time to show you more of the progress that I made concerning my most recent projects. Well, at least the progress of the projects which don’t need to remain secret until they’ve reached their recipient at war… 😉 In todays posting I am going to show you an update concerning the scroll for the winner of the rose tournament, which will be held at Gulf Wars. I’ve already posted about my very first progress concerning…

Scriptorium – some new blank scrolls… :D
And here are two new blank scrolls which I finished while preparing for the calligraphy on the “Rose Tournament” scroll for the winner of the rose tourney at Gulf Wars. At the left you can see a finished blank scroll for the “Order of the Argent Shield“. The artisan who made the lovely illumination at the bottom of the scroll unfortunately forgot to provide a name on the back. However, I believe that the illumination can be attributed to Isabella de Boyce. It’s quite a pleasure to see how nice my Batarde/Bastarda hand works with the illumination at the bottom. 🙂

Scriptorium – working on the scroll for the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars and some new blank scrolls… :D
…and now, that I got the “ok” to share my current project with you, I can spill the news and reveal what I was working on during the last days: The scroll for the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars! 😀 Though being asked to provide the scroll for the winner of the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars – a very prestigious and great tournament – was quite a surprise for me, I felt very honored and immediately agreed to take on this task. And knowing that some of my dear friends as well as my husband will take part in this tournament – either as fighter or inspiring “rose” (former queens within…

Scriptorium – new scroll blanks for the Kingdom of Meridies :)
Well, this was definitely a first for me. Never before did I go home after an SCA event with more scroll blanks than I had before… *lol* But first things first. Mistress Mara Palmer, who is doing an awesome job coordinating the scrolls supplied by the local scribes with the scroll demand of the current Royal Majesties, had several blanks with lovely artwork in her case. But they all had one thing in common – they were in need of some calligraphy…

Scriptorium – another Grant of Arms… :)
Wooohoooo! Another one of my SCA scrolls – a “Grant of Arms” – was recently given out in court! …and I would love to send out a hearty congratulation to its recipient: Engelbrecht Wandelber! It was a true honor for me to create your scroll! 😀 Well, as you might already know, I normally create a lot of SCA scroll blanks in order to practice my Batarde hand as well as for my own, personal pleasure. But from time to time I also get a scroll commission for a personalized scroll. I really love this scroll commissions as creating a very special scroll for a very special person is always a great fun for me.

Scriptorium – and again new scrolls for the Kingdom of Meridies :)
And again new scrolls for the kingdom! 😀 Now, after finally finding a certain name and award in the court records of the Kingdom of Meridies, I can finally post the pictures of my last scroll commissions because I can say for sure that the last award was announced and given out in court… 🙂 Well, yes, as a scribe I know about the great importance of being able to keep a secret as no scribe wants to spoil the surprise as well as the experience of the recipient who gets the award…
