Wooohooo! The scroll for the “Rose Tournament” is finished! 😀 After all the recent postings about my progress concerning this project, I proudly present to you a picture of my finished scroll for the winner of the “Rose Tournament”. A tourney which will take place at the upcoming Gulf Wars event! 😀 Looking back it seems like I just started working on this scroll. However, I know just too well that I worked for about 2 weeks on it. It is really amazing how fast time can go by when you are concentrating on a project. Like the hours just flew by as i was adding paint and ink to the pergamenata. But all that really counts at…

Scriptorium – working on the scroll for the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars .1
…and finally, after finishing the two scrolls which were on my to-do list, as well as the artwork for the vigil book for my husbands knighting, I am able to catch some breath again. And it’s definitely time to show you more of the progress that I made concerning my most recent projects. Well, at least the progress of the projects which don’t need to remain secret until they’ve reached their recipient at war… 😉 In todays posting I am going to show you an update concerning the scroll for the winner of the rose tournament, which will be held at Gulf Wars. I’ve already posted about my very first progress concerning…

Scriptorium – some new blank scrolls… :D
And here are two new blank scrolls which I finished while preparing for the calligraphy on the “Rose Tournament” scroll for the winner of the rose tourney at Gulf Wars. At the left you can see a finished blank scroll for the “Order of the Argent Shield“. The artisan who made the lovely illumination at the bottom of the scroll unfortunately forgot to provide a name on the back. However, I believe that the illumination can be attributed to Isabella de Boyce. It’s quite a pleasure to see how nice my Batarde/Bastarda hand works with the illumination at the bottom. 🙂

…and now, that I got the “ok” to share my current project with you, I can spill the news and reveal what I was working on during the last days: The scroll for the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars! 😀 Though being asked to provide the scroll for the winner of the “Rose Tournament” at Gulf Wars – a very prestigious and great tournament – was quite a surprise for me, I felt very honored and immediately agreed to take on this task. And knowing that some of my dear friends as well as my husband will take part in this tournament – either as fighter or inspiring “rose” (former queens within…

Gulf Wars preparation & great news for my husband… :D
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! My husband was asked to join the order of the chivalry during court at War college in Alabama! 😀 It already happened more than a week ago but – gosch – this awesome news still seems so amazing and unreal to me. Like it is just too good to be true. And being the natural skeptic that I am, I might actually not believe it until it really happens… We will see… And… Omg! Omg! Omg! Well, sure, I hoped that this day would come eventually but when it finally happened, it completely blindsided me. I can not even imagine how surprised and excited my sweetheart was……

A new shield for my husband for the Meridian Crown Tournament :)
I am so tremendously excited! It took nearly a week but I finally managed to finish my husbands new shield for the Meridian Crown Tournament just in time. You should have seen his face whenever he talked about his new shield – like a kid with an awesome new toy. But we have a rule here at home, however awesome any new gear is, it’s not allowed to be brought to bed… Yeah, there is no snuggling with new gauntlets or shields in the bed… 😉 And well, my sweethearts new shield and the awesome Crown Tournament event were not the only highlights this very recent weekend. Thursday night someone suddenly knocked…

My new black 12th century fillet with white silk embroidery! :D
Gloria, my dear mother-in-law, took a lovely selfie of us both at the most recent SCA event – Coronation. This cute selfie allows me to finally show you my most recent 12th century project “in use”: My new black 12th century fillet with white silk embroidery! 😀 How come? Well, after completing my new grey/black 12th century dress, I longed for a slightly different 12th century headgear than my ‘normal’ red silk fillet with pearl embroidery. And as the making of a new fillet does not take very long, I decided to simply make a fillet that matched at least one of the colors of my new dress…

Meridian Grand Tournament – fighting, banners and more photos…
While writing yesterdays posting about the Meridian Grand Tournament I got so excited that I completely forgot about the other photos and links I wanted to share with you. But postponed is not abandoned! This minor mistake can be easily corrected by writing just another posting with the Meridian Grand Tournament as its main topic. …and after this posting we can finally return to my (more or less) regular program of “embroidery, needlework and sewing”. Ok, there might be also some more calligraphy too if the right mood strikes me and I decide to get my nibs and ink out. Well, who knows what the future brings… 😉

Meridian Grand Tournament – the Order of the Velvet Owl and other great things…
Seeing my scroll for the Armatura tournament go to a worthy and excited recipient was not my only highlight at the Meridian Grand Tournament this very last weekend. So many awesome and memorable things happened throughout the whole day. And being admitted into the Order of the Velvet Owl of my beloved home, the Kingdom of Meridies, was definitely the most amazing surprise for me on this day. Here a beautiful shot of this very special moment which I got to share with three other friends who were also admitted to the Order of the Velvet Owl: The picture above was taken by Becky Cullen. Becky, thank you very much for this lovely memory! …and if you would…

Scriptorium – Meridian Grand Tournament – a scroll for the winner of the Armatura
Last but not least I have the pleasure to present to you my scroll for the winner of the Armatura tournament! Wow! The last weekend was truly amazing! My husband and I travelled to Tennessee – to the Meridian Grand Tournament – and brought a rather special package to the event. It was a scroll for the winner of the Armatura tournament sponsored by the “Order of the Legio Ursi” / “Legion of the Bear”. But first things first… As some of you might already know, is my husband a proud member of the “Legion of the Bear”, as well as some other dear friends of mine. Therefore I was really excited when I got the commission…
