Now that the padded arming coat is finally finished, I also get to show you the padded leg armor which I made some time ago. 🙂 Well, having a nice arming coat is just half the rent if you want to participate in SCA Heavy Fighting. As many of the shots go to the legs, it is a good idea to also put some thought and work into well fitting leg armor. And if you bruise as easily as I do, you indeed want some nicely padded leg armor. I already started working at this padded leg armor in March. It was kinda a last minute project as I wanted to bring at least one piece of armor…

SCA Heavy Fighting – my new embroidered arming coat / gambeson is finished! :)
Wooohooo! My new, embroidered arming coat is finally finished! …and yeah, I have photos to prove it! But first things first! The last week was really intense. All week long I was working like crazy at a special knighting “scroll” due to a very short deadline. I even worked my nights through to make sure that I am able to finish the “scroll” in time. Though my sweetheart might have missed snuggling with me at night, he was very understanding and supportive – thank you hon! I love you! 😀 And finally all the hard work and back pain paid off as I just finished the last details! And damn, it looks pretty amazing…

SCA Heavy Fighting – some embroidery for my arming coat / gambeson :)
After adding all the eyelets and buttonholes, I took a look at my finished arming coat. Well, what shall I say – it looked nice but also very plain and boring! And I definitely don’t like to look plain or boring in my new arming coat! Therefore I decided to extend my work at the arming coat project by adding some nice embellishment. And the easiest way for me to add some “bling” is to add some embroidery! Well, why not, some embroidery will definitely not hurt my arming coat… 😉

SCA Heavy Fighting – working at my arming coat / gambeson :)
And before someone else drops the question again about the progress of my armor for SCA heavy fighting and why I am still not in armor… Guys, it’s not finished yet! …I am still working at my arming coat! Really! I swear! *lol* Well, I hate to admit it but this is not my first arming coat project. Though I’ve never finished my very first attempt of an arming coat, I am quite positive that this new project will be quite different. And I am working hard to make it a success so I can finally mark the arming coat project off my list. Yeah, it’s true, I started an arming coat project already many years ago. But despite all…

SCA Heavy Fighting – a painted shield for my husband :)
Before I post more about how to deal with the stress points of 12th century necklines, I would like to show you a “small” side-project for my husband at which I was working during the last days: A painted shield for my husband! The very first shield I ever painted! 😀 Well, my sweetheart might not excel in what we call the “Arts and Sciences” in the SCA but he has one great passion – Armored Combat aka “Heavy Fighting”. And that is perfectly fine for us as I am in charge of the “Arts and Science” and he for the armor and the fighting… *giggle*

Back from Gulf Wars XXV…
Home, sweet home! As much as I enjoyed Gulf Wars XXV, I have to say that it is really nice to be home again. 😀 Due to a very strong storm – it seems like even a microburst might had been involved which touched down very close to the site – we decided to leave the site two days early on friday. Fortunately no one on site was really injured though some people had to face the loss of their tent or equipment. My love and heart goes out to them. I am very glad to say that my husband and I were very lucky – our tent did very well…

SCA Heavy Fighting – starting a more serious approach to get me back in armor & fighting again…
Well, for all of those of you who wonder about this posting – yes, I also engage in SCA heavy fighting. Or, well, to be more exact: I occasionally did some SCA heavy fighting in the past and after a quite long break I would like to start with it again. 🙂 I actually started with SCA heavy fighting already several years ago in Vienna. One beautiful sunny afternoon, after enjoying several hours of inline skating along the Danube bank, I decided that it would be nice to stop by at the regional fighter practice on my way home. As the fighting members and the people interested into Arts & Science mostly went different ways in their…
