Some of you might be wondering what else I was up to besides my move from Kentucky to Florida and then our final move into our new home. Well, I would say that I embraced two new art forms completely – blockprinting & stamp cutting. And if I may say so, I think I got pretty good at it.

…a little 7th to 9th century doll tunic…
Have you ever wondered what kids played with centuries ago? Pictures of toys from the very last centuries are available in quite an abundance but they get more and more rare the further you go back in time. Therefore you might very well imagine my great joy when I found this lovely little doll tunic from the 7th to 9th century on display at the Bode Museum.

Bode Museum – Sprang hairnet from the 5th century
Sprang is an old technique that got several of my friends very excited recently. And as I have a certain love for interesting and rare things, I remembered a wonderful example from the 5th century on display at the Bode Museum in Berlin, Germany. I had the great pleasure to get to see and photograph this beautiful piece during my visit in 2014 and hope you’ll enjoy it too:

…and I am back again…
When I decided to take my break last year, I really didn’t anticipate that it would be such a long one. To call the last months interesting, would be definitely an understatement. We moved from Kentucky to Florida, I started my very own little business, we found our very own home and moved again and my website went through quite a change, as you can see. The move from Kentucky to Florida was probably the most demanding part. Like with every move we had to decide which pieces were really worth taking and what to leave behind. Therefore we decided to donate a lot of things as a moving truck…

Preparations for my next block printing project…
After taking a look at the beautiful yellow and blue raw silk fabric which I wanted to use for my next block printing project, I realized that the pre-washed fabric wasn’t as smooth as I liked it to be. Well, after all this years of minimal use of the ironing board and the iron, I had to admit to myself that this lovely time had to come to an end. I had to iron my fabric for my project and I definitely didn’t enjoy the thought of it.

Meridian Grand Tournament – 09.2017 – photos are online! :D
We are back from another awesome SCA event – the Meridian Grand Tournament! Like in the years before, we had a terrific time. I got to watch my husband fight in several tournaments as well as in the grand final tournament. We got to hang out with dear “old” friends and new friends which we just met. Yeah, my sweetheart and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously. And what makes this already amazing day even better is that Our beloved Majesties decided to bestow a “Grant of Arms” upon me during court.

Meridian Spring Crown Tournament 2017 – photos are online! :D
The last days I not only worked on getting rid of the Spring Crown Tournament aftermath at home. I also worked my way through all the photos I took during the tournament. And here are some of my personal favorites: From afar as well as from up close is this pavilion set up quite impressive – all these banners, the tapestries in the background… *sigh* I really love this set up. But I am not quite sure to whom this pavilion, the tapestries and all the banners belong. However, this doesn’t dampen the great inspiration it provides for the future…
