…and finally another U.F.O.* finished! *happydance* (*= UnFinished Object) Two years ago I got some raw bees wax from a friend of mine in the states. He was so nice to share some of his raw bees wax with me because I was starting to run out of bees wax for sewing. Already one year ago I managed to clear the bees wax. Due to all my other projects I didn’t get to work any further with it till now. Currently my “old” and rather small piece of bees wax for sewing “died” – it became unusable. That was like a “wake up call”. Especially when I was holding the cleared wax in my hands while I was packing…

12th century embroidery – Saint Michael and the Dragon
At the moment I am working at the next posting for the current Craft with Racaire project – the “fast & easy pouch tutorial“. I will post it soon but it’s not finished yet… 😀 Therefore I decided to tell you more about my newest project and to show you some sneak peeks of it – of my new: 12th century embroidery project “Saint Michael and the Dragon” During my Mission “Medieval Berlin” I saw a beautiful embroidered wallhanging from the 12th century on display in one of the museums. This period wallhanging inspired me to try a “new” medieval embroidery technique. But first things first – here are the first photos of my new medieval embroidery project – enjoy! 😀 Above you…

More German Brick Stitch embroidery – Needle Roll 2 & 3 finished :D
You maybe remember my first “Craft with Racaire” project #1. The needle roll tutorial with German Brick Stitch embroidery which I recently posted. I was very pleased with my new German Brick Stitch pattern and the finished embroidery for the first needle roll. Furthermore I also tremendously enjoyed working with the beautiful new silk/wool thread I just got from the yarn shop. Like always, this are more then enough great reasons for me to became playful and creative. This time I decided to play around with my German Brick Stitch pattern #2 and to try out two new pattern ideas I had on my mind. The German Brick Stitch pattern #2 is already a simplified version of my German Brick Stitch pattern #1 and both new…

Woooohooooo! The last embroidery added! The new and also last embroidered section of my 14th century French pouch is finished! What shall I say – I love it! Tomorrow I can get the silk fabric for the back side, wash it and then start with the finishing – pinning, sewing, finger braiding, tassels,… …but until then – please enjoy the new progress pic of my recent embroidery progress! 😀 …and some of my personal thoughts concerning this new embroidery section: As you can see on the picture above, I added an extra embroidered blue section above the basic embroidery design. This section was actually not planned from the beginning. First I wanted to put…

Update – 9th blog birthday gift – embroidered 14th century pouch…
Btw. do you remember the postings about the small embroidered 14th century pouch? …the small pouch I made for my 9th blog-birthday raffle which was inspired by an extant 14th century French pouch… Well, I am very glad to say that the pouch arrived save in the hands of its new owner – Jennifer in Dallas, Texas. …and she likes it! *happydance* I was so excited that I nearly forgot to tell you. 😀 All my projects are more then just projects therefore I tend to call them my “babies”. Every time I send one of my “babies” per mail on its way, the uncertainty if the package arrives or not is the most painful…

Craft with Racaire – Project 2 – fast and easy pouch tutorial – Step 2.2 – hand sewing – how to start a new thread & hide it…
Some time ago I learned from some of my friends that several of my hand sewing & embroidery steps are rather new and unknown to others. Even if I consider this techniques very basic and elemental. I always try to keep that in mind while I am working at my projects. This is the main reason why I also try to document my “very basic” steps by taking as many useful photos as possible for you. Recently I took some detail photos of a very basic hand sewing technique I use very often. This detail photos will show you how to start a new thread and how to hide it in a seam. This posting is especially devoted to…
