With this posting, after all the previous postings about the 14th century XL hood project for my friends Pelican elevation, I am finally reaching the last and major part of the embroidery for this hood project: …the pelican patches! In my last posting I already showed you the finished knight belt patches for the 14th century hood for my friends Pelican elevation. And as nice as the knight belt patches already looked like at this stage of the project, they all still looked quite empty, didn’t they – but no for long, that’s for sure… 😀

Now, that I finally caught up with most of my housework and am able to enjoy a rather clean home again, I am back at my computer again and ready to also catch up with the most recent progress of the 14th century XL hood project for my friends Pelican elevation. Therefore I checked my last posting about the embroidery for the hood as well as the pictures on my tablet and found some photos concerning the surface couching embroidery for the appliqué border embellishment I haven’t posted yet.

I know, I didn’t post anything during the last week but I hope you will excuse it as I was working like crazy at the 14th century hood project for my friends Pelican elevation and also accompanied my dear husband to an event – “Boar Hunt” – in Tennessee. 🙂 And I am very glad to say that all the hard work totally payed off again! I managed to finish the last stitches of the surface couching work along the borders of the appliqué embroidery.

It is amazing how much embroidery progress can be achieved when you really want it and set your mind on it. As my husband can confirm, I really devoted myself to this project during the last days. With approximately 5 to 7 working hours per day, I managed to accomplish great progress in the rather short amount of time since I started the surface couching work for the appliqué border embellishment for the 14th century XL hood project.

Yesterday, after completing the recent appliqué work for the 14th century XL hood project for my friends Pelican elevation, I was able to finally move on to the surface couching embroidery for the appliqué border. And with the surface couching embroidery the fun part of this hood project just started for me. Yes, you can tell – surface couching for the win!

Just as I finished sewing my 14th century XL hood sample I received a wonderful gift from my mommy Sandra in the mail: awesome silver and gold threads! Well, you can imagine what that means – play time and a lot fun for me! There was absolutely no doubt that I had to try out this lovely threads immediately so I could report back about the threads to my mom.

14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery – now a lid for a reliquary box!

It took a little but I finally managed to turn my 14th century inspired Klosterstich rose embroidery into a cute lid for a reliquary box. 🙂 Well, not that the rest of the box is finished yet but I consider a lid a very good beginning. At the moment I am anyway not quite sure if I want to create an embroidery for the sides of the box too. A plain silk cover for the side part seems like a very appealing idea at the moment. But… Well, you know me…
