I am so excited! My third 12th/13th century inspired block printing stamp is finished! And now I have three lovely Romanesque stamps for my next block printing & 12th century garb making project! *very happy dance*
I had to wait for about two days for the glue to harden. This will make sure that the linoleum cut will not separate from the wood part in the future. And as you can imagine, this were the longest two days ever! But it definitely paid off. The glue I used will make sure that the wood or linoleum part would rather fall apart than the linoleum cut separate from the wood. Knowing that has some odd reassuring quality for me – I don’t know why but I really enjoy this thought. *lol* 😉
…and now let’s take a look at all three block printing stamps I made:
All three block printing stamps are inspired by extant printing patterns from the 12th and 13th century and I am very happy how they turned out. 😀
You can find more information about my first two block printing stamps (1-“Arabic letters” & 2-“birds”) in teardrop shape here:

2) teardrop stamp with birds:
Another 12th/13th century inspired block printing stamp finished! – Romanesque teardrop stamp .2
And now let’s take a closer look at my newest, third block printing stamp in teardrop shape – enjoy! 😀
…and this block printing stamp is based on the following extant print from the 12th/13th century:
…and before I forget, I thought you might find it useful to see how the backside of my stamps looks like:
My sweetheart made this stamps from some leftover wood cuts we had in the garage. Though the handle part might look odd to some of you, I have quite long fingers and therefore like a bigger handle part which I can grip, hold and therefore handle so much easier. And well, as all was cut from leftover wood the extra cost here is minimal – some time, wood glue and a screw to make sure it all stays together… Yeah, sometimes solutions can be that easy… 😉
And yesterday I already got to try all three new block printing stamps in teardrop shape on a piece of fabric which I had on stash:
I love my new block printing stamps! And as you can see, I really didn’t worry much about the placing of the stamps here. I just wanted to try out my new babies and play with them. *giggle*
I already have some ideas for the next block printing stamps I would love to cut. And my husband made sure that I have enough crafting supplies for the upcoming holidays as we got even more paint for my projects today. *lol* I am not quite sure who is actually more excited about the block printing outcome – my husband or I… *lol*
