Wooohooo! I just finished my 5th tablet woven band! 😀
Though the last days were quite busy for me, I didn’t give up on my most recent tablet weaving project. Every day, whenever I sat down on the couch, I took my weaving frame and worked for at least 30 minutes on my tablet woven band. And finally it paid off! My new tablet woven band is finished!
After the two most recent tunic projects for my husband – his 12th century grey light-wool tunic & his 12th century blue/grey raw silk tunic – I had only one tablet woven band left. And now, adding the new band to my stash, I have two tablet woven bands to chose from for future projects. Which is great because my sweetheart already picked some lovely silk fabric for his next christmas present – another tunic…
Yeah, “just” another tunic as christmas present for my husband! *lol* He already knows it and is quite excited about his present. And this year will be the third time that he gets a tunic for christmas – I think that we can slowly start to call it a christmas tradition, can’t we… 😉
Well, I don’t really mind all the work – he loves to wear my hand-sewn tunics, I enjoy to make him look pretty and to be totally honest – it is one less christmas present I have to worry about! I think we can call it a win-win-situation, especially as the tablet woven bands which I use for his tunics are so much faster and easier to make as any embroidery – and might also survive longer than any embroidery would… 😉
…and last but not least another picture of my new tablet woven band before I finish todays posting:
I hope you enjoyed the pictures of my new tablet woven band. This tablet woven band as well as the ones I was working on in the past were based on some quite “easy” tablet weaving patterns. I think that I feel comfortable enough to try my hand on a slightly more difficult pattern the next time… Well, we will see… 🙂
And now I can think again about my next posting concerning “my super secret project revealed: OvO pouch with medieval islamic inspired embroidery”. Maybe I could show you some pics of the embroidery in progress or post some more details about the extant islamic piece… Well, I will post about it all anyway but I haven’t decided yet on which I will focus on in my next posting… *lol* Stay tuned my friends… 😀
