While writing yesterdays posting about the Meridian Grand Tournament I got so excited that I completely forgot about the other photos and links I wanted to share with you. But postponed is not abandoned! This minor mistake can be easily corrected by writing just another posting with the Meridian Grand Tournament as its main topic.
…and after this posting we can finally return to my (more or less) regular program of “embroidery, needlework and sewing”.
Ok, there might be also some more calligraphy too if the right mood strikes me and I decide to get my nibs and ink out. Well, who knows what the future brings… 😉
And now let’s take a look at some of my favorite photos:
On the picture above you can see my dear husband on the right, known within the SCA as Conrad vom Schwarzwald, and Sir Lex, one of our dearest friends, on the left side.
Well, there is normally not much which can get me more excited than a lovely made embroidery, dress or calligraphy and illumination. But I have to admit that I also have a really huge weak spot for metal and leather work. And every time I see our friend Lex in his gorgeous 14th century armor, I just want to drool all over it… Yeah, I know, no touchy – just looky… But damn, he makes such amazing armor! I can’t tell you how often I thought about what it would take to strip down his armor and put it on myself… Yeah, you can say that there is some great restraint involved on my side every time we get to see each other at an event… *more drool*
Ok, enough about awesome armor work, let’s take a look at my favorite fighting pictures from the Meridian Grand Tournament:
I know, all pictures above show my dear husband, Conrad vom Schwarzwald. Though you could say that I am a little biased, it doesn’t really bother me as I openly admit it. But after about 10 years of going to SCA events on my own, there is nothing I enjoy more at an SCA event than watching my man fight!
Apropos enjoying something – many people brought their lovely painted silk banners and let them “fly”. All this silk banners created such a beautiful atmosphere:
Now I really would like to make a silk banner myself and to pick up silk painting again.
I haven’t done any silk painting for at least 15 years but I am sure that it would be a lot of fun to create a banner for myself and my husband. It seems like I have a good reason to get a name and device registered within the SCA now! *lol*
Well, this were just a few of my favorite pictures from the most recent Meridian Grand Tournament. If you would like to also take a look at the other pictures I took at the event, please visit my facebook page:

…and now back to my current sewing project. My husband decided to finally switch to his 12th century crusader kit and I have to finish some sewing projects for him before the Fighters Collegium. 😀
