Well, this was definitely a first for me. Never before did I go home after an SCA event with more scroll blanks than I had before… *lol*
But first things first. Mistress Mara Palmer, who is doing an awesome job coordinating the scrolls supplied by the local scribes with the scroll demand of the current Royal Majesties, had several blanks with lovely artwork in her case. But they all had one thing in common – they were in need of some calligraphy…
Besides that I felt very honored that she entrusted me with the calligraphy for these beautiful blanks, this “homework” also made me personally very happy as the already applied artwork enabled me to focus on the calligraphy alone. I admit it – it was quite a pleasure that I didn’t need to think about any further scroll embellishment for this scroll blanks. 🙂
Getting closer to the next SCA event – the Meridian Grand Tournament – I decided that it was high time to finally get my “homework” done. It took several days but I am very happy to say that I was able to finish the calligraphy on all of them:
And last but not least I would love to send a hearty and very personal thank you to the artisans who contributed the scroll blanks with lovely artwork you can see on the picture above:
Scroll 1 – Lady Veronica da Lucca (top row, left)
Scroll 2 & 3 – Lady Satara al-Katiba (top row, middle & right)
Scroll 4 – Isabella de Boyce (middle row, left)
Scroll 5 – Lady Emelina le Norreys (middle row, 2nd scroll from the left)
Scroll 6 & 7 – Lady Satara al-Katiba (middle row, both scrolls on the right)
Scroll 8, 9, 10 & 11 – Isabella de Boyce (bottom row)
Thank you all very much for your great work! The scroll blanks with your artwork will be returned to Mistress Mara Palmer at MGT and might be soon put to good use… 😀
